I love this time of year because people start posting their favorite reads of the year. This year, I surpassed my reading goal and read more than 50 books in a year for the first time ever!

This was a year of mostly fiction. I did read many non-fiction books, but fiction was the star. I also branched out to some new genres that I don’t typically read (fantasy, I’m looking at you).

My Top 6 Fiction Books in 2022

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

like a warm blanket. My heart grows a few sizes just thinking about this book.

The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin

her writing is like spoken word poetry at times; I was captivated by the artistry of this book

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

breathtaking and a story I will never forget

Meet Me in Another Life by Catriona Silvey

It’s got parallel universe vibes, mixed with some sci fi and some mystery. It was delicious.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

3 of the 4 of my family were diagnosed this year with neurodiversities – me with ADHD and my husband and youngest daughter are autistic. This book is such a special read for anyone who is “different” in any way.

Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley

A really engaging story while learning about the Ojibwe people. It made the top 6 because I couldn’t put this down. I dropped everything I was doing and sat on the couch reading this book.
